Nakuru Hip Hop

Nakuru Hip Hop [Rift Side Hip-Hop] is a type of Music that is inspired by Hardcore Underground and African Hip Hop sub-genres and native to Nakuru County. It started in Southern Nakuru town ghetto neighborhood of Bondeni and Langa Langa Mwisho. It was a form of expression of self for daily struggles of the youth in low and middle income estates. Hip Hop in Nakuru for years was an uncensored version since the pioneers of rap valued the culture more therefore, the concept of making commercial tracks did not make much economic sense. NAKURU CITY Hip Hop Artist within the City started making records from the late 90s with artist such as LevelNext, San of Sacrifice and Bishop Tokanduki Making professional tracks. This was the first hip hop movement which formed the basis and foundation of Nakuru Hip Hop. Most of the Legendary rappers are still active in the industry, With artist such as Bishop Tokanduki releasing tracks in recent times. Majority of Record labels in the city were established around 2005 to 2011 , most of the producers were having hip hop roots the most prominent record labels at the time were Crizo Records based in Racecourse projects and Free Area Records based along Nakuru Nairobi highway. The studios helped established Nakuru as a music hub along other major cities like Mombasa and Kisumu. Nairobi music industry was well established by then. Hero Radio was established in the city in 2010 by Sam Gitonga which helped in promoting Nakuru music within Nakuru County, Nyandarua County, Baringo County and within sprouting towns around the city as well as other urban areas such as Njoro Egerton Kabarak and Naivasha. In 2012 Nakuru Mc Kalimani and his producer Rob Msani Kikosi created a strong buzz that enabled Kalimani music to be played on Capital Fm's Hip Hop show Cypher984. The same year his label mate X-Calibur Matingari Joined Nokia East Africa don't break the beat competition and came out first. The two collaborated on several tracks and a cypher that made 2012 the most promising year in the history of hip hop. Trap Music started to be appreciated from the the states to the motherland as a better sub- genre of Hip Hop,Up coming rappers and noted rappers preferred rapping over trap Instrumentals as opposed to new crank or old school instrumentals, Embracing the change beat producers like CNA Beats , Dj Gylo of G2 Records and Beat Ocean stated making trap Instrumentals hence establishing the change subsequently record labels started making trap music as a preferred sub-genre of Hip Hop Music .  In 2017 Nakuru Female Rapper Silverstone Barz Started recording trap music together with Gstr the Producer, on Apr 27 2018 he was able to put out his strongest hit, the song Running Game featuring fellow rapper G-Chess. The track was appreciated by residents of Nakuru and Nairobi, it was able to strongly premiere on Club 1 X-tra countdown hosted by Dj Africana. She also was featured on Khaligraph's Khali Cartel 3 and Doing it major a collaboration with Brooklyn Boys.
